Abstract

Purpose: The main purpose of this study was to understand Korean Nursing Students' experiences of a Short-term Study Abroad Program in an American College of Nursing.

Methods: The raw data was gathered through in-depth interviews with eight nursing students from April 10 to April 26, 2017. All of the data was analyzed through the method proposed by Colaizzi.

Results: This study extracted 25 meanings arranged in five themes. The five themes were 'A desire for experiences of new world', 'Faced with the language barrier', 'The American college students and nurses who became the object of envy', 'Fully enjoyed life of studying abroad through the fruitful programs and renewed', 'Various different looks of America that impressed and disappointed'.

Conclusion: This findings might provide insight policies for future short term study abroad program to the College of Nursing in the U.S.A.
